Post Peebles Spin

Just a quick spin on the turbo tonight. Just to keep the legs loose after the long ride yesterday. So no definite plan, just on the turbo, keeping the cadence high, watched Torchwood on the iPlayer, and stopped when the episode finished.

Good to keep putting on the mileage.

After a day off, post race, time to get back in the saddle. Just 20K of fast spinning on the Turbo. Ankle was fine whilst on the machine, and sore once I walked about afterwards. Lots of ice, and yet more stretching….

SS2 Turbo Training – Spin Ups

Just two days to my first ever olympic distance triathlon, so a session of high cadence spinning on the turbo trainer today.

5 mins cadence > 90
5 mins alternating 30 secs between 80 rpm and 100 rpm
8 x 30 secs spin up to max rpm, with 2:30 rest
5 mins cool down.

Here’s the data

Adidas Zone Cycling

Weird name. But basically it’s a joint venture between Sir Chris Hoy, Victoria Pendleton, Adidas, and David Lloyd to devise a programme that simulated velodrome cycling.

It’s mental. 45 minutes of high cadence, high effort, interval training. My thighs were burning after about 5 minutes, and that was just the start of it. The instructor got the events mixed up, but it didn’t really matter: it’s just about getting everyone to work together, and keep driving on.

Pool of sweat. Completely exhausted by the end of it. It’s exactly what I need to bring my cycling up to speed given the organisational difficulties of cycling to work every day. I can do that twice a week (Sundays and Mondays) and still fit in some swimming on other days. Just need to find some time to do some running!

So, I can’t go this week, but I should be able to fit in a spin class instead later on in the week.

Not sure if I’m going to manage 4 tris this year, but I am definitely going to enter the London. And I *should* be able to fit in the Epic Lake swim series too.

Phew.
